An Aeroflot Airbus A330-300, registration VQ-BQZ performing flight SU-1703 from Vladivostok to Moscow Sheremetyevo (Russia), was climbing through 7500 feet out of Vladivostok's runway 25L when the aircraft received a lightning strike. In the absence of any abnormal indications the crew decided to continue the flight and landed the aircraft safety in Sheremetyevo about 8:50 hours later.

Rosaviatsia reported there had been no returns on the weather radar. Cabin crew saw a flash and heard a "clap" sound from the left hand side of the aircraft. Engine and all system indications remained normal, the crew thus decided to continue the flight. A postflight inspection revealed damage to the airframe consistent with atmospheric electricity discharge. The aircraft was removed from service.

The aircraft remained on the ground in Moscow for about 52 hours, then returned to service.
