An AirAsia Airbus A320-200, registration 9M-AJK performing flight AK-66 from Hyderabad (India) to Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), was enroute at FL350 over the Bay of Bengal when it went out of reach of ground radars. 130 minutes later the aircraft came into reach of ground radars again at FL100 and diverted to Phuket for a safe landing.

The aircraft remained in Phuket for about 11.5 hours, then continued the flight.

On Feb 27th 2024 Thailand's AIB reported they opened an investigation into the incident described as "Events requiring the emergency use of oxygen by the flight crew."
