An Alaska Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N563AS performing flight AS-471 from Santa Ana,CA to Seattle,WA (USA) with 161 passengers and 6 crew, was enroute at FL360 about 90nm southsoutheast of Eugene,OR (USA) when the crew needed to shut one of their engines (CFM56) down and decided to divert to Eugene. The aircraft landed safely on Eugene's runway 34L about 25 minutes later.

The airline reported a mechanical issue with the aircraft.
