An Air Algerie Boeing 737-800, registration 7T-VJO performing flight AH-1036 from Algiers (Algeria) to Lyon (France), was enroute at FL340 about 280nm northnortheast of Algiers over the Balearic Sea when the crew decided to return to Algiers due to the cracked outer pane of a window in the cabin. The aircraft descended to FL330 for the return and landed safely back in Algiers about 90 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration 7T-VKQ reached Lyon with a delay of about 7 hours.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground in Algiers for about 19 hours before returning to service.
