An Avianca Airbus A319-100, registration N422AV performing flight AV-189 from Dallas Ft. Worth,TX (USA) to Bogota (Colombia), was enroute at FL370 over the Gulf of Mexico about 250nm southsoutheast of Houston,TX (USA) when the crew initiated an emergency descent to 10,000 feet due to the loss of cabin pressure. The aircraft turned around and diverted to Houston Intercontinental for a safe landing on runway 09 about 90 minutes after leaving FL370.

A replacement A320-200 registration N206FR resumed the flight the following day and is estimated to reach Bogota with a delay of about 15 hours.
