A Buzz Boeing 737-800 on behalf of Ryanair, registration SP-RKI performing flight
FR-6094 from Gothenburg (Sweden) to Gdansk (Poland), was climbing out of Gothenburg's runway 03 when shortly after becoming airborne the aircraft was struck by a bird. The crew subsequently felt abnormal vibrations of the air frame, however, all engine indications were normal. As the climb continued engine vibrations began to slowly increase prompting the crew to work the "High engine vibrations" checklist ruling out icing. The crew interrupted the climb at FL150 to ensure vibrations remained within the limit. The aircraft subsequently climbed to FL300 and continued the flight. Ultimately the crew needed to decide to divert the aircraft to Warsaw Modlin (Poland) for a safe landing on runway 08 about 70 minutes after departure.
The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground in Warsaw for about 3 days and 1 hour before returning to service.
Poland's PKBWL reported following the bird strike the crew assessed the meteorological conditions and decided to divert to Warsaw to minimize the risk. An investigation has been opened.
