A CAA Compagnie Africaine Aviation Airbus A330-200, registration 9S-ASJ performing flight
BU-1222 from Goma to Kinshasa N'djili (DR Congo), was accelerating for takeoff from Goma's runway 35 when one of the engines (Trent 772) ingested a bird and failed prompting the crew to reject takeoff at high speed. The aircraft slowed safely and stopped at the end of the runway. After a check by emergency services the aircraft taxied back to the apron.
The flight was cancelled. The aircraft is still on the ground in Goma.
The airline later reported two birds were ingested by the engine.
