A CAA Compagnie Africaine Aviation Airbus A330-300, registration 9S-ABS performing flight
BU-1612 from Lubumbashi to Kinshasa (DR Congo), was climbing out of Lubumbashi's runway 07 when the crew stopped the climb at FL100 due to the flaps being stuck in position 2. The aircraft returned to Lubumbashi for a safe landing about 30 minutes after departure.
The aircraft remained on the ground for about 4.5 hours, then departed again but again needed to stop the climb at FL080 as the flaps again became stuck at position 2. The aircraft landed safely back on runway 07 about 25 minutes after departure.
DR Congo's BPEA opened an investigation into the occurrences rated serious incidents.
