A Canadian North Avions de Transport Regional ATR-42-500, registration C-FTIL performing flight 5T-818 from Iqaluit,NU to Pond Inlet,NU (Canada) with 33 passengers and 3 crew, was climbing out of Iqaluit when the crew felt airframe vibrations, the cabin attendant confirmed to also feel the vibrations in the back of the aircraft. The aircraft returned to Iqaluit for a safe landing.

The Canadian TSB reported the aircraft had been de-iced prior to departure. However, the post flight inspection revealed the presence of ice on the central parts of the wings, on top of the fuselage as well as on certain critical surfaces of the aircraft.
