A Cemair de Havilland Dash 8-300, registration ZS-DHA performing flight 5Z-518 from Johannesburg to Kimberly (South Africa), was climbing out of Johannesburg's runway 21R when the aircraft stopped the climb at about 2500 feet AGL due to the failure of the left hand engine (PW123). The aircraft returned to Johannesburg for a safe landing on runway 21L about 15 minutes after departure.

A passenger reported the failure of the left hand engine after takeoff and immediate return to OR Tambo Airport. They completed the journey on another aircraft.
