A China Eastern Boeing 737-800, registration B-5857 performing flight
MU-6996 from Chongqing to Taiyuan (China) with 128 people on board, was climbing out of Chongqing's runway 03 just before midnight when a bird impacted the captain's windshield causing the outer pane to crack. The crew stopped the climb at about 3000 meters (10,000 feet) and returned to Chongqing for a safe landing on runway 02R about 30 minutes after departure.
