A Copa Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration HP-1829CMP performing flight CM-420 from Panama City (Panama) to Mendoza,MD (Argentina), was enroute at FL350 about 300nm south of Panama City when the crew decided to return to Panama. The crew turned the aircraft around, descended the aircraft to 10,000 feet within the next 20 minutes and landed the aircraft safely back in Panama City about 100 minutes after leaving FL350.

A passenger reported the captain announced they had received a door open indication. The aircraft subsequently burned off fuel and landed without further incident.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration HP-1855CMP reached Mendoza with a delay of about 4:15 hours.

The occurrence aircraft returned to service about 3 hours after landing back.
