An Egypt Air Boeing 737-800, registration SU-GDZ performing flight MS-835 from Entebbe (Uganda) to Cairo (Egypt) with 116 people on board, was climbing out of Entebbe's runway 17 when a bird impacted one of the engines (CFM56) prompting the crew to divert to Kigali (Rwanda) where the aircraft landed safely on runway 28 about 35 minutes later.

MS-835 route is Cairo-Kigali-Entebbe-Cairo.

The aircraft remained on the ground in Kigali until Mar 3rd, then flew directly to Cairo as flight MS-835 and is still on the ground in Cairo on Mar 4th 2024.
