An Emirates Airbus A380-800, registration A6-EUY performing flight EK-39 from Dubai (United Arab Emirates) to Birmingham,EN (UK), landed on Birmingham's runway 15 when a small brakes fire broke out. The aircraft slowed safely, emergency services responded and put the fire out. The aircraft was subsequently towed to the gate where passengers disembarked normally.

The airport reported the aircraft having landed with a gear fire was towed to the apron. It looked more dramatic than it had been, there had been a problem with the brakes, the passengers were all safe.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 5 hours, then departed for the scheduled return flight EK-40 and reached Dubai with a delay of about 2 hours.
