An Air Europa Boeing 787-9, registration EC-NGM performing flight
UX-58 from Sao Paulo Guarulhos,SP (Brazil) to Madrid,SP (Spain), was enroute at FL330 about 210nm north of Sao Paulo when the crew decided to return to Sao Paulo due to a strong burning odour in the cabin. The aircraft landed overweight but safely back on runway 28R about 70 minutes after departure.
Maintenance inspected the aircraft without any findings and returned the aircraft to service.
The aircraft departed again about 10 hours after landing back and reached Madrid with a delay of 11.5 hours.
