A Eurowings Airbus A319-100, registration D-ABGN performing flight EW-9080 from Dusseldorf to Munich (Germany), was climbing out of Dusseldorf when the crew stopped the climb at FL240 due to a hydraulic fault and entered a hold while working the related checklists. The crew subsequently descended the aircraft to FL180 and returned to Dusseldorf for a safe landing on runway 23L about 60 minutes after departure.

A passenger reported the crew announced a hydraulic fault prompted their return to Dusseldorf.

A replacement A319-100 registration D-AGWD reached Munich with a delay of 2.5 hours after a flight time of 50 minutes.
