A Flysafair Boeing 737-800, registration ZS-SJJ performing flight FA-379 from East London to Johannesburg (South Africa), was climbing out of East London's runway 29 when the crew stopped the climb at 3000 feet and entered a hold. The aircraft returned to East London's runway 29 for a safe landing about 40 minutes after departure.

A passenger reported a bird strike affected the left hand engine (CFM56).

The airline reported a technical issue.

The flight was cancelled.

The aircraft remained on the ground in East London for about 26.5 hours, then returned to service.
