A Gulf Air Airbus A320-200, registration A9C-AC performing flight
GF-219 from Bahrain (Bahrain) to Kuwait (Kuwait), was climbing through FL240 when the crew donned their oxygen masks, called "Mayday, Mayday" and indicated they were descending to 10,000 feet. The crew subsequently explained they did suffer a loss of cabin pressurization and once down at 10,000 feet decided to return to Bahrain, where the aircraft landed safely on runway 30R about 42 minutes after departure.
Gulf Air reported: "Gulf Air Flight GF 219, from Bahrain to Kuwait has diverted back safely to Bahrain International Airport shortly after departure, as the flight encountered a technical issue, prompting the pilot to prioritize the safety of all passengers and crew onboard. All 130 passengers have been successfully reaccommodated on an alternative aircraft."
A replacement Airbus A321-200N registration A9C-NF reached Kuwait with a delay of about 4 hours.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Bahrain about 17 hours after landing back.
