A Jetblue Airbus A321-200N, registration N2188J performing flight B6-2233 from Boston,MA to San Francisco,CA (USA), landed on San Francisco's runway 28L when the crew after touchdown and during de-rotation decided to go around. During rotation for lifting off again the tail contacted the runway surface. The aircraft climbed to 5000 feet, positioned for another approach to runway 28L and landed without further incident about 15 minutes after the balked landing.

The airline reported the crew initiated a go around during landing, the A21N sustained a tailstrike. The aircraft was removed from service, an investigation is underway.

The aircraft is still on the ground in San Francisco about 39 hours after landing.

On Feb 20th 2026 the NTSB reported the aircraft suffered a tail strike during landing at San Francisco, there were minor injuries and the aircraft sustained substantial damage. The occurrence was rated an accident and is being investigated.
