A Kenya Airways Boeing 737-800, registration 5Y-KCB performing flight KQ-2341 from Hargeisa (Somaliland) to Nairobi (Kenya), had backtracked runway 24 for departure, turned around and aligned with runway 24. The aircraft began to accelerate for takeoff when at about 40 knots over ground the aircraft began to veer left and exited the runway to the left, the crew rejected takeoff. The aircraft continued over soft ground for about 248 meters before returning onto the runway surface. The aircraft subsequently returned to the apron.

The aircraft remained on the ground in Hargeisa until Aug 6th 2026 before returning to service.

Kenya's AAID opened an investigation.
