A Kenya Airways Boeing 737-800, registration 5Y-CYA performing flight
KQ-670 from Nairobi to Kisumu (Kenya), performed three approaches to Kisumu's runway 24 with the crew initiating two missed approaches. The aircraft landed on the third approach, but was unable to vacate the runway.
The airline reported the aircraft experienced a bird strike while landing at Kisumu and was therefore temporarily unable to vacate the runway as the bird had affected the aircraft steering components. The passengers and crew disembarked safely.
Passengers reported the captain announced they could not turn and had to wait for stairs and busses to take them to the terminal. Before the crew had indicated twice they had gone around due to strong winds, on the third attempt they struck a bird and landed, but couldn't turn off the runway due to the bird being stuck in the steering system. It took 90 minutes until they could disembark.
