A Korean Airlines Boeing 737-8 MAX, registration HL8352 performing flight
KE-189 from Seoul (South Korea) to Taichung (Taiwan), was climbing through FL350 out of Seoul when the crew initiated an emergency descent due to the loss of cabin pressure, passenger oxygen masks were released. The aircraft descended to 8000 feet, entered a hold and returned to Seoul for a safe landing about 2.5 hours after departure. 17 passengers required medical assistance.
South Korea's Ministry of Transport reported 15 passengers were hyperventilating and suffered from ear pain.
The airline reported 17 passengers required medical assistance, were assessed at medical facilities and were released without serious injuries.
