A LATAM Airbus A320-200, registration CC-BFS performing flight LA-2113 from Lima to Arequipa (Peru) with 175 people on board, was enroute at FL370 about 180nm southeast of Pisco (Peru) when the crew turned off the airway and initiated an emergency descent to FL230 initially until clear of the Andean Mountain Range and further to FL100. The aircraft turned around and diverted to Pisco (Peru) for a safe landing on runway 22 about 50 minutes after initiating the turn off the airway. Paramedics were on standby for assisting passengers and crew.

The airline reported the aircraft made a technical stopover.

Peru Ministry of Transport reported the aircraft suffered a cabin pressurization failure.

A replacement A320-200 registration CC-BFP positioned from Lima to Pisco, resumed the flight and reached Arequipa with a delay of about 4.5 hours.

The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 50 hours, then positioned back to Lima and resumed service about 34 hours after landing in Lima.
