A Malaysian Airlines Airbus A330-300, registration 9M-MTG performing flight MH-386 from Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia) to Shanghai Pudong (China), was climbing out of Kuala Lumpur's runway 14R when the crew stopped the climb at about FL220 reporting engine (PW4168A) problems. The aircraft descended (normally) to FL070, entered holds to burn off fuel and landed safely back on Kuala Lumpur's runway 14L about 70 minutes after departure.

The aircraft is still on the ground in Kuala Lumpur about 7 hours after landing back.

Before the occurrence flight the aircraft had last flown on April 21st 2024, 4 months earlier, underwent maintenance and was on its first flight past maintenance.
