A Miat Airlines Boeing 737-8 MAX, registration EI-MNG performing flight
OM-502 from Tokyo Narita (Japan) to Ulaanbaatar (Mongolia), was enroute at FL340 and had just initiated a step climb about 100nm northnorthwest of Osaka Kansai (Japan) when the crew initiated an emergency descent due to the loss of cabin pressure. The aircraft turned south, entered a hold for about 2:15 hours to burn off fuel and diverted to Osaka for a safe landing on Kansai's runway 24L about 2:50 hours after initiating the emergency descent.
A passenger reported the aircraft lost cabin pressure and the passenger oxygen masks were released. The aircraft descended rapidly and entered a hold to burn off fuel.
The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 34 hours before returning to service.
