An Air Panama Fokker 50, registration HP-1794PST performing flight
7P-684 from Panama City Albrook to Changuinola (Panama) with 45 passengers and 3 crew, was enroute at 2500 feet MSL about 14nm northwest of the Island of Bocas del Toro when smoke was observed in the cabin. The crew diverted the aircraft to Bocas del Toro for a safe landing on runway 09.
Panama's Air Safety Directorate reported maintenance determined the smoke was caused by a short circuit in the EPCU (Electrical Panel Control Unit) light panel. An investigation is ongoing.
