A Smartlynx Airbus A320-200 on behalf of Air Peace, registration YL-LCT performing flight
P4-7862 from Abuja to Asaba (Nigeria), was accelerating for takeoff from Abuja's runway 22 when the crew rejected takeoff at high speed (about 135 knots over ground) due to the failure of one of the engines (CFM56) with a loud bang and streaks of flames. The aircraft slowed safely and returned to the apron.
A replacement Smartlynx Malta A320-200 registration 9H-AOZ reached Asaba with a delay of about 3:50 hours.
