A Smartwings Boeing 737-800 on behalf of Spicejet, registration OK-TVR performing flight
SG-516 from Hyderabad to Delhi (India), was accelerating for takeoff from Hyderabad's runway 27L when the crew felt vibrations at about 130-140 KIAS. Without indication of a punctured tyre the crew continued takeoff, prepared for a safe landing but ultimately decided to continue to destination. On approach to Delhi the crew informed ATC about the situation and continued for a safe landing on runway 28 about 1:50 hours after departure.
Czechia's UZPLN reported the crew of the sector landing into Hyderabad had already noticed vibrations during the landing run. Maintenance checked the landing gear and found no defect, the nose gear tyres showed minimal damage which remained within permitted limits, the aircraft was released for flight. No vibrations were noticed during taxiing. During the departure roll vibrations were again noticed at about 130-140 knots. After informing ATC in Delhi about the situation the crew performed a landing without autobrakes, used thrust reversers and minimized braking. The aircraft rolled out without further incident and vacated the runway at the end for an inspection. Ground personnel discovered damage to the nose gear, the aircraft was towed to the apron. Maintenance subsequently discovered part of the tread of the left nose tyre showed damage and had detached.
The aircraft remained on the ground in Delhi until May 21st before returning to service.
