A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N8328A performing flight WN-1278 from Honolulu,HI to Oakland,CA (USA) with 19 passengers and 5 crew, was climbing out of Honolulu when the flight crew heard unusual strange noises from the direction of the windshield, stopped the climb at 14,000 feet and returned to Honolulu for a safe landing on runway 08L about 25 minutes after departure.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration N8307K reached Oakland with a delay of 3 hours.

The airline reported the captain decided to return to Honolulu to have the strange noises coming from the windshield inspected, the mechanics did not find any mechanical issue.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground about 19 hours after landing back in Honolulu.
