A SriLankan Airbus A330-300, registration 4R-ALQ performing flight UL-606 from Colombo (Sri Lanka) to Sydney,NS (Australia), was enroute at FL330 about 400nm southeast of Colombo when the crew decided to return to Colombo due to the failure of the yellow hydraulic system indicating both low pressure and low quantity. The aircraft landed safely back in Colombo about one hour later.

The aircraft remained on the ground for almost 16 hours, then departed again and is estimated to reach Sydney with a delay of about 21 hours.
