A TAAG Angola Airlines Boeing 737-700, registration D2-TBJ performing flight DT-577 from Luanda (Angola) to Johannesburg (South Africa) with 114 passengers, was enroute at FL370 about 600nm southeast of Luanda when the crew descended the aircraft to FL360, turned around and diverted to Lubango (Angola) for a safe landing about 2:55 hours after departure.

The airline reported the flight could not be fulfilled due to technical reasons detected in the aircraft. The passengers were taken to hotels over night and arrived in Johannesburg the following day.

A Boeing 737-700 registration D2-TBH took the passengers back to Luanda as flight DT-7454 the following day (Jul 4th). Subsequently the flight DT-577 of the Jul 4th was performed on schedule by a Boeing 777-300 registration D2-TEG and reached Johannesburg on schedule (passengers of Jul 4th) respective with a delay of 24 hours (passengers of Jul 3rd).

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Lubango about 48 hours after landing.
