A TAP Airbus A321-200N, registration CS-TXE performing flight
TP-217 from Lisbon (Portugal) to Boston,MA (USA), was enroute over the Atlantic Ocean northwest of Lajes, Azores Islands (Portugal) when the crew decided to turn around and divert to Lajes, where the aircraft landed safely on runway 33. The aircraft vacated the runway at the end and taxied to a remote apron.
The airline reported a technical issue.
Passengers reported something about the engines being too hot, after landing emergency services checked it out. The captain announced they would be able to continue to Boston.
The aircraft remained on the ground in Lajes for about 2.5 hours, then departed and reached Boston with a delay of about 4 hours.
