A TUI Airlines Belgium Boeing 737-8 MAX, registration OO-MAX performing flight
TB-3111 from Brussels (Belgium) to Sharm el Sheikh (Egypt), was climbing out Brussels' runway 25R when according to the transponder the aircraft did not gain any altitude while other parameters were in line with the aircraft flying. The aircraft stopped the climb and returned to Brussels for a safe landing on runway 25R about one hour after departure.
The airline confirmed a faulty transponder prompted the return.
A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration OO-JAX reached Sharm El Sheikh with a delay of about 2 hours.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Brussels about 35 hours after landing back.
