A TUI Airways Boeing 787-9, registration G-TUIL performing flight
BY-48 from London Gatwick,EN (UK) to Cancun (Mexico), was enroute at FL380 over the Atlantic Ocean about 480nm east of Bermuda (Bermuda) when the crew decided to divert to Bermuda. The aircraft landed safely on Bermuda's runway 30 about 90 minutes later.
A passenger reported shortly after takeoff the crew informed the passengers that maintenance had thought a problem with the three left forward toilets would resolve itself with the pressure differential, however, that didn't work out leaving them with three toilets being out of service. The passengers were advised to use the other toilets. Enroute over the Atlantic the crew announced it would be best to stop at Bermuda to empty the tanks of the operating toilets. The aircraft remained in Bermuda for about one hour, then continued to Cancun with emptied waste tanks and some additional fuel. The passenger wrote: "All was a very pleasant flight, the crew were great and communicated to the passengers really well."
The aircraft remained on the ground in Bermuda for about 70 minutes, then continued to Cancun and reached the destination with a delay of about 65 minutes.
The aircraft departed for the return flight with a delay of about 70 minutes and reached London with a delay of about 35 minutes. The aircraft is currently still on the ground in London about 31 hours after landing in London.
