A United Boeing 737-800, registration N14230 performing flight UA-540 from Denver,CO to San Diego,CA (USA), was climbing through FL330 out of Denver when the crew initiated an emergency descent to 10,000 feet due to the loss of cabin pressure, the passenger oxygen masks were released. The aircraft diverted to Grand Junction,CO (USA) for a safe landing on runway 29 about 28 minutes after initiating the emergency descent.

The passengers were taken to hotels.

A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration N26210 positioned to Grand Junction the following day and reached San Diego with a delay of 13:45 hours.
