A UNO United Nations de Havilland Dash 8-100, flight UNO-516P from Juba to Wau (South Sudan) with 35 people on board, was climbing out of Juba when a large bird (presumed to have been an eagle or falcon) impacted and penetrated the aircraft's nose prompting the crew to return to Juba for a safe landing about 10 minutes after departure.

According to ATDB United Nations operate 10 Dash 8-100s for their various programmes, 5Y-BXH is known to be based in Sudan. Their Dash 8-400 registration C-GNSV is based in Juba but was not involved in the occurrence.
