A Volotea Airbus A319-100, registration EC-MUX performing flight V7-1611 from Mykonos (Greece) to Naples (Italy), was enroute at FL380 over the Ionian Sea about 110nm southeast of Bari (Italy) when the left hand engine (CFM56) failed prompting the crew to shut the engine down and divert to Bari for a safe landing on runway 25 about 35 minutes after leaving FL380.

A replacement Airbus A320-200 registration EC-NNZ was dispatched to Bari, continued the flight and reached Naples with a delay of about 5:40 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground about 10 hours after landing.
