A Wizz Air Airbus A320-200, registration HA-LYF performing flight
W6-1071 from Katowice (Poland) to Eindhoven (Netherlands), was climbing through FL350 out of Katowice when the crew decided to return to Katowice. The aircraft landed safely back on Katowice's runway 26 about 53 minutes after departure.
A passenger reported: "Shortly after take off we encountered light to moderate turbulence. About 20-25 minutes into the flight, well above the clouds, the captain announced that we are returning to Katowice due to a possible lightning strike and need of inspection. I did not notice any odd sound or disturbance in the flight however."
A replacement A321-200N registration HA-LVT reached Eindhoven with a delay of about 5.5 hours.
The occurrence aircraft returned to service about 29.5 hours after landing.
