A Batik Air Airbus A320-200, registration PK-LUV performing flight
ID-6723 from Kendari to Jakarta (Indonesia) with 153 passengers and 6 crew, was enroute at FL360, when both pilots took their headsets off and turned the loudspeaker volume in the cockpit up. The captain subsequently held a rest. After the captain woke up the first officer declined to rest, hence the captain continued his rest and fell asleep again. About 20 minutes later, after several exchanges with cabin crew as well as ATC in order to deviate around weather and after establishing on a vector to avoid weather, the first officer inadvertently fell asleep, too. About 28 minutes after the last transmission by the first officer the captain woke up, saw the first officer was sleeping and woke him up. The crew advised ATC they did have a radio problem, corrected their flight path, that had taken them far off course, and continued for a safe landing on Jakarta's runway 26.
Indonesia's KNKT released their preliminary report stating the captain (32, ATPL, 6304 hours total) was assisted by a first officer (28, CPL, 1,664 hours total).
