An Uzbekistan Airways Airbus A320-200, registration UK32012 performing flight
HY-9649 from Tashkent (Uzbekistan) to Kazan (Russia), was on final approach to Kazan's runway 29 about 10nm before touchdown when the crew reported the failure of an engine (CFM56), shut the engine down and performed a full orbit to work the checklists. The aircraft continued for a safe landing on runway 29 about 10 minutes later.
The return flight was cancelled.
The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Kazan about 48 hours after landing.
