An Allegiant Airbus A320-200, registration N246NV performing flight G4-994 from St. Petersburg,FL to Plattsburgh,NY (USA) with 157 people on board, was climbing out of St. Petersburg's runway 18 when an engine (CFM56) ingested a bird prompting the crew to stop the climb at 3000 feet and return to St. Petersburg for a safe landing on runway 18 about 30 minutes later.

A replacement A320-200 registration N234NV reached Plattsburgh with a delay of about 4:45 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in St. Petersburg about 31 hours after landing back.
