An American Airlines Airbus A321-200N, registration N410AN performing flight
AA-556 from Miami,FL to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA), was on approach to Chicago's runway 27L when a number of birds impacted the aircraft. The aircraft continued for a safe landing.
The FAA reported: "AIRCRAFT WAS LANDING AND STRUCK BIRDS DAMAGING NOSE GEAR AND LEFT WING, CHICAGO, IL.", rated the occurrence an incident with damage "UNKNOWN".
The aircraft remained on the ground in Chicago for about 28 hours before returning to service.
