An American Airlines Airbus A319-100, registration N836AW performing flight AA-1892 from Boise,ID to Dallas Ft. Worth,TX (USA), was on approach to Dallas when approach cleared the flight for a visual approach to runway 18R and subsequently handed the flight off to tower. The aircraft lined up with runway 18L, which was closed at the time due to a bird strike with airport vehicles on the runway. Tower cleared flight AA-1892 to land on runway 18R, then advised airport vehicles with AA-1892 already on frequency that runway 18L was closed. The crew continued the approach, tower instructed AA-1892 to go around with no response, more assertive instructed a go around again again without reaction and finally already with heightened voice instructed another go around. The crew finally read back the instruction and initiated a go around from about 700 feet AGL. The aircraft subsequently was vectored for an ILS approach to runway 13R and landed safely on runway 13R.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 5.5 hours before departing for the next sector.
