An American Airlines Boeing 738-8 MAX, registration N341SV performing flight
AA-608 from Miami,FL to Chicago O'Hare,IL (USA), was enroute at FL360 about 230nm north of Charlotte,NC (USA) when the crew decided to turn around and divert to Charlotte due to a burning odour in the cabin. The aircraft landed on Charlotte's runway 18C about 40 minutes later. Two cabin crew received minor injuries.
The FAA reported: "AIRCRAFT DECLARED AN EMERGENCY DUE TO A BURNING SMELL IN THE CABIN, CHARLOTTE, NC.", 2 cabin crew received minor injuries, the aircraft sustained "UNKNOWN" damage.
A replacement Boeing 737-800 registration N826NN reached Chicago the following day with a delay of about 16 hours.
The occurrence aircraft remained on the ground for about 19 hours before returning to service.
