An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N914NN performing flight AA-1880 from New York JFK,NY to Dallas Ft. Worth,TX (USA), was descending towards Dallas when the crew stopped the descent at about 5000 feet reporting problems with the flaps. The crew subsequently declared PAN PAN advising they needed to do a "no flaps landing" and wanted emergency services to check their brakes after landing. The aircraft landed safely on runway 17R at a higher than normal speed about 35 minutes after stopping the descent.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 33.5 hours before returning to service.
