An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N823NN performing flight AA-2559 from Dallas Ft. Worth,TX to Detroit,MI (USA), was on final approach to Detroit's runway 04L when the crew initiated a go around, the aircraft's aft belly contacted the runway surface however. The aircraft climbed back to 5000 feet maintaining routine communication, positioned for another approach and landed on runway 04L without further incident about 15 minutes later.

On Jul 13th 2020 the FAA reported: "AIRCRAFT WAS LANDING AND WENT AROUND STRIKING TAIL, DETROIT, MI."

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 22 hours, then positioned to Tulsa,OK (USA) and is still on the ground in Tulsa about 22 hours after landing in Tulsa.
