An American Airlines Boeing 737-800, registration N826NN performing flight AA-1649 from Charlotte,NC to Orlando,FL (USA), was on approach to Orlando's runway 35R when a bird impacted the right hand engine (CFM56). The aircraft continued for a safe landing on runway 35R.

The FAA reported: "AIRCRAFT STRUCK A BIRD AND DAMAGED RIGHT LEADING EDGE OF THE RIGHT ENGINE, ORLANDO, FL.", rated the damage "UNKNOWN" and the occurrence an incident.

The occurrence aircraft resumed service after about 5 hours on the ground and departed for the return flight to Charlotte.
