An ANA All Nippon Airways Boeing 737-800, registration JA86AN performing flight
NH-1502 from Okinawa to Saga (Japan) with 158 people on board, was climbing out of Okinawa when the crew stopped the climb at FL220 due to right hand engine (CFM56) vibrations followed by high engine oil temperatures. The crew shut the engine down and returned to Okinawa for a safe landing on runway 36R about one hour after departure and was evacuated via slides. Three passengers received minor injuries (scrapes) as result of the evacuation.
The aircraft is still on the ground in Okinawa about 8 hours after landing.
The JTSB rated the occurrence a serious incident and opened an investigation.
