An Astral Airlines Boeing 747-400 freighter, registration TF-AMU performing flight 8V-2611 from Liege (Belgium) to Lagos (Nigeria), was climbing out of Liege's runway 22L when the crew stopped the climb at FL100 due to problems with the flaps. The aircraft subsequently headed across Belgium to the North Sea, climbed to FL140 to dump fuel, and returned to Liege for a safe landing on runway 22L at a higher than normal speed (166 knots over ground, about 190 KIAS) about 85 minutes after departure.

The aircraft remained on the ground for about 16 hours before returning to service.
