An Avianca Airbus A320-200N, registration N764AV performing flight AV-87 from Bogota (Colombia) to Buenos Aires,BA (Argentina) with about 100 people on board, was enroute at FL350 about 590nm south of Bogota when the crew decided to return to Bogota due to a hydraulic failure. The aircraft initially descended to FL340, then FL260 for the return and landed safely on Bogota's runway 14R about 4:15 hours after departure.

A replacement Airbus A320-200N registration N765AV reached Buenos Aires with a delay of 8:45 hours.

The occurrence aircraft is still on the ground in Bogota about 31 hours after landing back.
